CATSINaM appoints inaugural Chief Midwifery Officer

Professor Catherine Chamberlain, a Palawa woman of the Trawlwoolway clan Tasmania, and one of Australia’s most accomplished First Nations health professionals, was appointed as the inaugural Chief Midwifery Officer for the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives (CATSINaM). Prof. Chamberlain is a midwife and renowned public health researcher with 25 years’ experience in the health sector, holding leadership positions within academic institutions, government and health services.

Prof Chamberlain is a Professor of Indigenous Health at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health and the Editor-in-Chief of the Lowitja Journal. She is an experienced Chief Investigator on multiple projects with an exceptional publication record.  Read the full announcement here.

Associate Editors | Call for Expressions of Interest

The Lowitja Journal Call for Expressions of Interest - Associate Editors. An official journal of the Lowitja Institute, this, community-controlled, international, community member, inter- and multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal is dedicated to expanding access to First Nations research, increasing First Nations scientific and community collaboration, and contributing to the First Nations research academy. They invite experienced authors and reviewers with significant research experience in the area of First Nations health and wellbeing to submit an Expression of Interest to join the editorial team as an Associate Editor.

Integrated Multidisciplinary Models of Primary Care Grant Opportunity GO7154

This Grant Opportunity will support medical research and medical innovation projects that evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of new or existing models of integrated, multidisciplinary team-based primary care for people who would most benefit from this type of care, including but not limited to First Nations Australians, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability including intellectual, children, older populations (either in residential aged care homes or those ageing at home), or those with social disadvantage or multiple chronic conditions.

National Indigenous Australian Agency

Agency Collaborates – Community Initiated  GO4984

Under the IAS, the Agency considers grant proposals that address a need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Proposals should be developed with the target community or group who will be impacted by the activity. This funding approach can be used to present a proposal to the Agency where a need has been identified in the community and there are no other current funding avenues available.
